THE ROBIN WOOD TAROT

The Robin Wood Tarot took nearly a decade to design. Robin has combined the traditional Tarot card designs and symbolism with a more current   and   natural   
symbolism which makes these cards easy to interpret.

Review the deck card by card.
Study the images and color schemes.Pay attention to the emotions you experience while meditating on each card. Write these insights in a notebook for future  
reference---this will eventually become your own personal wide to interpreting the cards.

The following pages contain the thoughts and impressions which occurred to the author while studying the deck. We have included Robin's own insights, too--
the ones she had while designing and drawing the cards. Please feel free to use our interpretations until you develop your own.

THE MAJOR ARCANA
The Major Arcana are the cards of power and mystery. These cards touch on all the great powers in the universe. Their names alone conjure up rich images:  
Strength, Death, the Devil, Justice, the Sun, the Moon, etc.
When these images are combined with the illustrations provided by the cards, these powers make themselves known as forces behind and within the life of the  
seeker.

O--THE FOOL
Meaning
Thoughtlessness, folly, lightheartedness, innocence. Purity of heart. Lack of discipline. One seeking fulfillment and experience. Freedom, lack
of restraint.
Reversed
Carelessness, vanity, indecision, apathy, poor judgment. Lack of control.

1--THE MAGICIAN
Meaning
Opportunities to use talents. Originality, creativity, imagination, skill,diplomacy, self-reliance. The merging of the four elements.
Reversed
Unskilled, clumsy, insecure, disgrace, bad judgment causes loss.

2--THE HIGH PRIESTESS
Meaning
Practicality, good judgment, wisdom, mystery, the clouded future. A woman of interest to the seeker, or the seeker herself.
Reversed
Passion, conceit, lack of sense, poor intuition, ignorance, bad judgment.

3---THE EMPRESS
Meaning
Pregnancy, fertility, good advice,safety, security, hidden actions. A competent woman, safe and secure,who is building a future for herself and her family.
Reversed
Lack of satisfaction. The unraveling of involved matters. Uncertainty,infidelity, infertility.

4---THE EMPEROR
Meaning
A father figure, secure and successful. A stable, authoritative, powerful leader. A person with the qualities of reason and conviction.
Reversed
Confusion, obstruction, immaturity,ineffectiveness, weakness of character, megalomania.

5---THE HIEROPHANT
Meaning
Tradition, captivity, servitude, ritual, inactivity, retention, timidity. A desire to hold on to old thoughts and ways even if they are outdated.Concern for

form over function.
Reversed
A foolish exercise in generosity, eccentricity, intrigue, weakness.

6---THE LOVERS
Meaning
Love, respect, partnership, trust,communication, perfection, honor,romance, beauty. A couple which has worked together to overcome trials.
Reversed
Failure,   unreliability,   separation,frustration in marriage, instability,confusion, silence. The inability or disinclination to share thoughts.

7--THE CHARIOT
Meaning
Work and travel, purpose, trouble or problems fall behind, triumph, harmony, balance. Controlling forces which might conflict and bringing them together to  
form a working whole.
Reversed
Quarrels, trouble, defeat, failure, the collapse of hopes or dreams, unfavorable legal proceedings.

8---STRENGTH
Meaning
Power, energy, strength, courage,conviction. The gift to soothe others' grief or to help solve their problems.
Reversed
Weakness, sickness, lack of faith,despotism, discord, abuse of power,a fear of loneliness.

9--THE HERMIT
Meaning
Meditation, the search for truth,good counsel, wisdom, prudence. A withdrawal from life is needed to find one's center.
Reversed
Hastiness, imprudence, unreasoning caution or fear, emotional immaturity. Withdrawal from one's problems with no constructive plans.

10---WHEEL OF FORTUNE
Meaning
Change, destiny, fortune, good luck,the end of troubles in sight. Moving ahead for better or worse.
Reversed
Reversal of fortunes, failure, bad luck, unexpected interference.

11--JUSTICE
Meaning
Fairness, balance, equality, rightness, legal matters, negotiations.
Reversed
Bias, prejudice, bigotry, intolerance,a bad judgment (legal), cruel punishment.

12--THE HANGED MAN
Meaning
Suspense, life interrupted, change.Wisdom in occult matters. Sacrifice for wisdom. Inner search for truth.Change in your point of view.
Reversed
A wasteful search, selfishness. Lack of effort needed to achieve a goal. A useless gesture.

13---DEATH
Meaning
The end of an era (and a beginning).A reminder of mortality. A great change. A discovery which changes the seeker's life direction.
Reversed
Lethargy, great inertia, slow or ponderous change, depression. Resisting the inevitable.

14--TEMPERANCE
Meaning
Economy, a moderate lifestyle, patience. Obtaining security through frugal management of means. Meditation. All things in moderation(including moderation!).
Reversed
Competitive interests. Too much caution. Hostility. A person with whom it is impossible to work.Misunderstanding others.

15--THE DEVIL
Meaning
Greed, the monkey trap. Vehementdesires, lust. Bondage to an ideal.Bad or evil influence or advice. A choice upon which your fate depends. Dissolution.
Reversed
A release from bondage. A rest. A new life's direction.

16---THE TOWER
Meaning
Sudden change, broken friendships,destruction, security lost, disgrace.Catastrophic transformation.
Reversed
Tyranny,   continued   oppression.Lack of change, monetary losses.

17--THE STAR
Meaning
Hope and faith. A blending of the best of the past and present. Bright prospects. Mastering the occult arts.An awareness of two worlds.
Reversed
Laziness and indifference. Unrealized hopes. Arrogance, pride. Delays, loss of hope or faith.

18---THE MOON
Meaning
A warning, deception. Enemies who are out of sight. A caution to stay on your path for safety. Darkness,companions out of their element.
Reversed
A white lie, a trick, a tiny mistake.Silence, stillness. Unexpected gain with no cost exacted.

19--THE SUN
Meaning
Accomplishment, success, material happiness. A good marriage, joy,pleasure. Liberation, freedom, contentment.
Reversed
Lesser joys. A separation from loved ones. Delayed success or postponed security. An uncertain future.

20--JUDGEMENT
Meaning
A change of position, rejuvenation,rebirth. Reward, acquiring a purpose. Atonement, paying the piper,accounting for one's actions.
Reversed
Weakness. Lost affections, separation, divorce. Confrontation, indecision. Avoidance of obligations.

21--THE WORLD
Meaning
Completion, the end of a way of life,success. A new beginning, a change of location, hope for the future.Triumph in the end. The admiration of friends. The  
breadth of possibilities.
Reversed
Disappointment. A discouragingly small advance. Failure, the inability to finish what you've started. Permanence, stagnation.
